Top 30 Metal Songs

So time for some Top (any number) lists.

Was thinking of puttin' toghether a Top 30 Metal Songs. Theese are songs that I personally selected, and while the ranking was hard, I think I'm fairly certain this is how I feel. However I may change my mind in a couple of minutes.

If you haven't heard some of theese songs, by all means listen to them. You owe it to music.

30. Motorhead - Ace of Spades
29. Black Sabbath - War Pigs
28. Judas Priest - You've Got Another Thing Comin'
27. Dream Theater - Stream Of Consciousness
26. Guns N' Roses - Welcome To The Jungle
25. Megadeath - Hangar 18
24. Slipknot - Wait And Bleed
23. Scorpions - Rock You Like A Hurricane
22. Pantera - Cowboys From Hell
21. Guns N' Roses - My Michelle
20. Korn - Freak On A Leash
19. Slayer - Raining Blood
18. Metallica - Seek & Destroy
17. Iron Maiden - Phantom Of The Opera
16. Children Of Bodom - Follow The Reaper
15. System Of A Down - Toxicity
14. Slayer - Dead Skin Mask
13. Metallica - Blackened
12. Black Sabbath - Iron Man
11. Pantera - Mouth For War

10. Dream Theater - Pull Me Under

This prog-metal band have for a long time had a big place in my heart. And it is with great joy that I still find this song to be one of the best ever. Petrucci is a master with the guitar, and this song proves that prog-metal kan kick serious ass.

9. Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast

Probably the biggest breakthrough for Iron Maidens career, and Bruce Dickinsons. This song has it all, great solo, great riff, and a chorus that kan make a room filled with Maiden fans bond like nothing else. Six six six!

8. Metallica - Creeping Death

If I had to chose one Metallica song, for which had the best bridge in the world...it would have to be Creeping Death. No song has an intermission like this between the solo and the last chorus. Not only is this song lyrically great, but the riffs are so beautiful that they make you shiver your spine. DIE BY MY HAND! I CREEP ACROSS THE LAND! KILLING FIRST BORN MEN! Oh yeah.

7. Black Sabbath - Paranoid

The best Black Sabbath song there is, and according to most lists of best song of all time, this one usually makes the cut. This song made metal what it is, and ask any new metal band, and they'll say that Paranoid has been one of the biggest influences of all. God is to Jesus, as Sabbath is to metal.

6. System Of A Down - Aerials

When SOAD released Toxicity, they sure made the music world spin. Implementing something new and fresh, SOAD quickly became a well known name, and one of the biggest metal bands of their time(2000). While their albums Hypnotize and Mezmerize were amazing, nothing tops the work from Toxicity, so say at least, Aerials is probably the best song of their genre, and heck, one of the best metal songs out there. This one will stick around for awhile.

5. Iron Maiden - Fear Of The Dark

The best Maiden song. I don't know why. I seriously don't know why. FOTD just has a special charm. The lyrics, amazing. The riffs, mind-numbing. The solos, exhilarating. Dave Murrays solo in particular is one that stays on my favourite solo list(which will be published soon). No other words can describe this amazing song.

4. Twisted Sister - I Wanna Rock

Oh how you couldn't see this one coming. I'm not a particular Twisted Sister fan myself, but this song is probably one of the biggest landmarks in the metal genre. No other song can make EVERYONE in a room yell out "I Wanna Rock". It's just that simple. The best party song out there for anyone who likes Rock. And let's face it, who doesn't?

3. Megadeath - Holy Wars...The Punishment Due

This baby made the cut to my Top 5 list of week 50, and of course it makes the cut to my top song list. As stated earlier, this song has so many awesome elements that it comes toghether as Megadeaths best song. The first 2 and a half minutes are my favourite, and I can listen to that part over and over again with the same feeling...HOLY WAAAAARS

2. Metallica - Master Of Puppets

AHA! You thought this one would make number 1, yes, I thought about it. But instead, MoP will have to make some space for another one. But hey, that doesn't mean MoP isnt good. In fact, Master of Puppets is so good, that I wouldnt know how the world would look like without it. EVERY single thing about this song is amazing. I dare you to find a flaw. Go ahead. I dare you.

1. Pantera - Cemetery Gates

Phil Anselmo, Dimebag Darrel, Vinnie Paul and Rex Brown. Oh gee.

Pantera has been one of my favourite bands since 7th grade, and I am so disappointed that I haven't been listening to them as often as i'd like. But here's their reward. This is my apology.

Cemetery Gates is the best metal song. From the first second, to the last, Pantera takes you on a magical journey of Hardcore metal riffs, from beautiful chords, ground breaking solos and magic dust echoing vocals(don't know what that means). It's just the most beautiful piece of work there is. If I was just a little bit more sensitive, I think listening to the song now would make me cry of joy. Yes, I'm pretty sure.

R.I.P Dimebag Darrel. The greatest guitarist ever. The heart and soul of Pantera. This is for you.
